Traveling in your RV with your family or friend group is rewarding and fun, but some parts of travel can be a little more challenging. For example, the kitchen in your camper is a lot smaller than the one you have at home and you probably don’t want to spend all day in front of a hot stove when you could be outside relaxing.

At the same time, you also want to ensure that you aren’t relying too much on fast food or convenience meals because it’s important to eat well wherever you are. Here are some strategies to make cooking great food in your camper that much easier.

Prepare Food in Advance

One great way to have delicious hot meals in your camper without putting in effort during your travels is to batch-cook several dishes at home and portion them out into Tupperware containers. Store these in your freezer and pop them in the microwave when it’s dinner time. Add some sliced bread and a quick salad for a balanced restaurant-quality meal. Options might include a beef stew, chili, or lasagna.

Cook Less

Since preparing hot food can be a pain on a steamy summer day, why not prepare cold meals instead? If you grill extra chicken or fish the night before, you can shred these proteins into some fresh greens or mix them into a pasta salad for a tasty dinner without the stove. Serve sandwiches for lunch with plenty of options, such as cut-up vegetables, several cheeses, and a variety of lunch meats. Eat cold cereal with fresh fruit for breakfast.
